Highway 101 – Marsh Road Interchange

Civil engineering design for the reconstruction of the Marsh Road/Highway 101 overcrossing and modifications to the interchange with Highway 101. The improvements eased traffic movement between Bayfront Expressway (Route 84) and Highway 101. The reconstructed structure met Caltrans and FHWA vertical clearances resulting in an enhanced safety feature.

One stage of work included the construction of the new bridge while maintaining use of the existing bridge. By narrowing the lane and shoulder widths to acceptable Caltrans standards, new columns were constructed within the median. Upon the completion of the new bridge, traffic was shifted to the new bridge and the existing bridge was demolished.
