Santa Clara VTA - Vasona Corridor Surveys
(San Jose, California)

BKF was retained by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to survey 6.5 miles of right-of-way for the new Vasona Corridor of the VTA light rail project.

  • Surveyed individual parcels and determined the relationship of the corridor to Highways 880, 87, 280, 85 and the Southwest Expressway.
  • GPS control survey for over 200 monuments.
  • Boundary survey and right-of-way mapping/appraisal maps.
  • Completed topographic surveys and potholing surveys of all utilities and every street crossing along the corridor.
  • Title research.
  • Legal description and plat preparation.
  • Topographic surveys and Record of Survey preparation.

Project Unique Features:
  • Worked with the Peninsula Joint Powers Board, Caltrans and the County of Santa Clara to coordinate the surveys within the multiple rights-of-way.
  • Provided field survey services for additional design topographic surveys, construction staking for VTA’s utility group, QA/QC surveys for VTA’s field engineers and office services for additional exhibits, easements and takings.
