Right-of-Way Engineering
BKF has been involved in many right-of-way projects in recent years. We have prepared all of the right-of-way documents for the BART expansion to San Francisco International Airport and the Vasona Light Rail Transit project for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (SCVTA), which included all of the research, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, utility mapping, appraisal maps, hardcopy maps, right-of-way maps and the legal descriptions for acquisition. We also provided layout of rights-of-way for viewing and construction layout for the SCVTA.
We have completed several smaller right-of-way projects for the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) to establish property lines to enable identification of encroachments. And for the CCWD, we have completed boundary surveys, preparation of a Record of Survey Map and legal descriptions for transfer of properties adjoining the Los Vaqueros Reservoir.
BKF has completed several right-of-way projects in conjunction with Caltrans for highway work.
All of these projects involve completing right-of-way determination for corridor properties which have several adjoiners. These sorts of projects always include determination of senior junior rights, encroachment issues and resolving conflicting calls created by adjoining subdivision maps that focused only on a small part of the corridor.
