Civil Engineering Project Experience
BKF developed concept plans for Park Site 23 to show how the treatment volume could be metered and pumped into bioswales and bioretention facilities to meet the C.3 provisions. BKF also worked with the developer and City of San Francisco on a Storm Water Management Plan for the system.
San Bruno's Crestmoor Reconstruction Area project is associated with the repair and upgrade of infrastructure utilities and street improvements including pavement, curb/gutter, and sidewalks following the 2010 PG&E explosion. A Community Neighborhood Park is also being designed.
BKF is providing civil engineering and supplemental surveying services as part of the design of the new 140,000 sq. ft. high-performance computing research and office facility. BKF provided the design of all of the associated infrastructure and access improvements to the building.
BKF assited with the design of a new Kaiser medical office building in San Mateo. This innovative design-build project acheived 100% biological treatment of storm water.
BKF provided civil design for the new LEED Platinum certified gymnasium. BKF was also involved with site improvements for a new Teen Wellness Center, a new parking area, and various ADA accessibility improvements throughout the school campus.
Envisioned as a gateway “Main Street” the Macdonald Avenue streetscape improvements intend to revitalize the corridor and spur private investment and economic growth in Richmond’s downtown.
The parks of Mission Bay are part of a master planned greenway that serve the blossoming population on San Francisco’s waterfront. Home to the University of California San Francisco Mission Bay Campus, new corporate headquarters, UCSF Hospital, numerous residents, and other mixed uses, these parks play an integral role in Mission Bay’s urban landscape.
BKF is providing civil engineering and planning services for Sonoma Mountain Village (SOMO). SOMO intends to transform the former 175-Acre Lucent Technologies light industrial manufacturing campus into a vibrant mixed-use sustainable village. Additionally, SOMO, as part of the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND), has acheived the highest certification level, LEED Platinum. In 2008, SOMO was awarded the Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA).
Awarded through a design competition, BKF provided civil engineering and surveying services for the new Walnut Creek Main Library. The library features an underground parking garage, plazas, gardens, and streetscape improvements. Key features incorporated into the project by BKF include bioretention facilities to promote storm water quality, a permanent dewatering system, and modifications to the existing traffic signal at the intersection of Broadway and Lincoln Streets.
BKF has been providing civil engineering and surveying services for this 80-acre commercial campus. Design included rezoning, general plan amendments, CEQA processing, master planning, and engineering. Survey included ALTA surveys, parcelization, entitlement processing, and full construction plans for the campus site layout, grading, and utility plans.
